This is what I’ve had to do this afternoon and what you’ll be stuck doing if you run into this bug. The current fix for all of this is a factory reset of your console. Not only did the game default to the PS4 version and trick you into downloading the wrong version, but it only bugged out if you went to download the PS5 game. It was stuck.Ī quick Google search took me to a Eurogamer article where they had reported yesterday that the Cross-Gen bundle or the Ultimate Edition of the game had one significant error. I tried finding a way to delete it and start the download again. It clearly stated the game was queued for downloaded, but it wasn’t actually doing any downloading. Upon backing out of the game, I deleted the PS4 download and attempted to download the PS5 version of the game.

A minor error where I installed the wrong copy. This afternoon when I booted up Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War on my PS5, it took me all of a couple of minutes to ask, “wait, where’s the haptic feedback?” It turned out I was playing the PS4 version of the game. We should expect a fix soon, but no official statements have been made.PlayStation 5 users who either upgrade their copy of Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War from PS4 to PS5, or buy the Ultimate Edition with both copies included, should be aware of a critical bug plaguing the game at the moment. If you have just the PS4 version installed, you can’t install the PS5 version of the game, and the only way to fix this now is to perform a factory reset on your new console. To play the PS5 version, you need to hit the three-dot button next to the play button and select the PS5 version manually. You miss out on the next-gen features, including quicker load times, DualSense support, and 120 FPS. If you do this, the PS5 could default to the PS4 version, rather than playing the next-gen version by default. However, if you select “Download all”, both PS4 and PS5 versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War get downloaded.

Players can choose the PS5 version of the game from here, and it works fine. The PlayStation Store does give the option to choose which parts of the game to install.
